“I remember when I first started Tap dancing, my teacher Ethel Bruneau lent me her copy of Black and Blue, Tap Dance in America, and No Maps On My Taps.  So much of what I think about Tap Dance today was formed by those films.  Yes the films featured master Tap Dancing, but the Masters also spoke about Tap, about their experiences in the DaNcE, about their philosophies.  It’s the basis of my understanding of Tap Dance as an oral tradition.
